Randy Henniger Shares His Battle Won
Writes Book to Benefit Current Cancer Patients

2011 Great Comebacks® Award recipient Randy Henniger has just published an autobiography on his journey to defeat colon cancer entitled “The Battle Won.” The book was inspired by his efforts to mentor colon cancer patients. Randy was so moved by each family’s desperate need for support and assistance that he decided to share his cancer journey to help encourage others. In fact, his entire family started writing too!

“I‘ll never forget the pain, worry and fear that came when I was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer, but those feelings are behind me. What is so amazing is how close our family became as a result of my illness, even 26 years later,” says Randy.

Given only a 30 percent chance of survival, Randy underwent surgery to remove the tumor in his colon that resulted in a permanent colostomy. He was treated with painful radiation therapy and many additional surgeries. Randy was told he would never be able to take part in the outdoor activities he enjoyed or even lift his kids. But his determination and courage led Randy to have a full recovery and now he enjoys mountain climbing and surfing – even helping wounded service members learn to surf in his spare time. Click here to continue reading Randy's story.

“The Battle Won” is now available for sale and proceeds from the book will go towards the Blue Note Fund of the Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA). This fund provides financial assistance to colon cancer patients in need.
